What do we do?

After your child has been registered with us, your family will be assigned a youth protector. This youth protector monitors the safety of all children in your family and involves people who are important to you and your child(ren). We use a phased approach based on 9 principles for this.

Phase 1
In the first phase, we will discuss with you the direct reason that got us at Jeugdbescherming West involved with your family. In the conversations with you, we discuss in very concrete terms what we mean by the immediate safety of your child: which situations are we talking about and how we can together ensure that this does not happen again.

As soon as we have ensured this in the safety plan, we will work together on the change plan. In this plan, we will work with you to find out how the situation arose and how we will work together to prevent this from happening in the future. We start from the opportunities and possibilities within your family. The change plan reflects which pattern must be broken, how we are going to do this together and what help is needed for it. The objective is for you to be able to take care of this yourself in the future without the involvement of Jeugdbescherming West.

As soon as we have realised that situation together, the involvement from Jeugdbescherming West stops. However, the assistance required for this can still continue.

Phase 2
In the second phase, we will implement the plan together with you and your network, and with additional help if necessary. Your youth protector monitors the process.

Phase 3
When all objectives are achieved, the third and final phase begins. In this phase, we look at what you need to maintain the positive development and who can continue to support you in the future if necessary.
